Wisconsin Housing Support Services (WHSS) is a new Medicaid pilot program in Wisconsin, addressing housing instability through the lens of health outcomes. WHSS supports families in obtaining and retaining housing, positively interacting with their landlord, and leading healthy lives through empowerment and skill development. WHSS partners with landlords, community agencies, and other support networks to ensure each family receives tailored, wraparound services to achieve their family's housing and health goals.

Through a Housing First and Rapid Re-Housing framework, WHSS offers housing navigation services to provide support to families as they obtain housing to meet their financial and other unique household requirements. This includes financial assistance to secure permanent housing. WHSS also provides case management services continuing after permanent housing is obtained to provide assistance in identifying barriers and developing skills and long-term sustainability for continued housing security.
