We are recruiting for a Youth Program Educator, called a LEO/BFI Coordinator, to join our team. This is full-time position that provides services in Adams County, Wisconsin.
Our Learn and Empower Oneself (LEO) is operated through the Brighter Futures Initiative (BFI), Substance Use Prevention program in Adams County. LEO is based upon the concepts and tools from the Life Ecology Organization. The program provides alternatives to substance use and risk behaviors for youth and emerging adults ages 12 through age 20. The coordinator will provide services throughout Adams County in partnership with one other Coordinators in the county.
Our LEO program is currently embedded in some of the classrooms in Adams County.
The coordinator teaches the Learn & Empower Oneself curriculum, which is classroom course that teaches youth how and why the brain responds the way it does and provides concrete tools to increase resiliency through cooling down the lower (or primitive) brain and activating higher-brain functioning. The tools learned in the classroom provide both education and alternative strategies to addictive behaviors.
In addition, the coordinator will provide individual intensive mentorship to youth demonstrating significant behaviors that indicate a higher probability of substance use, to help them apply the LEO concepts and tools into their every-day life. This includes providing tailored support and guidance, focusing on the youth's current challenges. Youth participating in intensive mentorship meet weekly, learning how to apply LEO tools in their daily lives, while adopting healthy coping mechanisms and hobbies.
