We have a current opening for a Career Services Specialist position within our WestCentral FoodShare Employment & Training (FSET) program. This position is based in Eau Claire, WI. This position provides support to our nine-county FSET region and is part of our Career Services Team.
The Career Service Specialist (CSS) is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with local employers to leverage resources for FSET customers. They also work collaboratively with FSET Case Managers to provide information to FSET customers that will best prepare them for local employment opportunities. The CSS is responsible for understanding our local labor market and sharing that knowledge with our team and our customers. The CSS also helps maintain the Labor Market and Education pages on our website, www.MyFSET.net. This position requires the CSS to meet FSET customers and local employers where they are at so this is an in-person position that requires a worker to provide services in offices and communities.
This is not your traditional job developer or account rep position, as our CSS unit’s first priority is our customers and works to leverage employer and labor market relationships for our customers.
The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Career Service Functions Include:
- Connect with local employers to develop employer partnerships with the goals of: (a) Establishing a direct referral process for FSET customers with the employer; (b)Coordinating job retention support for FSET customers who are hired by the employer; (c) Facilitating communication between FSET customer and the employer; (d) Hosting employer-related events including local hiring events and community job fairs; (e) Identifying specific technical and soft skill needs for available positions.
- Develop and maintain Employer Profiles with core information about the employer. These profiles are then used by case managers to provide important information to FSET participants considering employment with that employer.
- As part of the Career Services team, maintain the Employer Index, a comprehensive summary Excel workbook, with at least weekly updates regarding available positions through partner employers. Promote updates with the FSET team.
- Track all new employments by FSET customers, all direct and job retention referrals received by case managers utilizing established Excel workbooks.
- Work with the Career Services team to achieve quarterly and annual program goals.
- Manage the information on the following pages for MyFSET.net: (a) Career Services: including employer testimonials, employer spotlights and employer news; (b) Employer Partner Job Leads: update information for every employer partner in each county assigned to the Career Services Specialist.;(c) Labor Market: feature occupation articles, labor market data for the region, and unemployment rate data; (d) Education and Training: career assessments, GED/HSED, In-Demand Training, Online Training, Technical Colleges and Apprenticeship information.
- Meet with FSET case managers to discuss individual customer needs, promote current openings, and discuss local labor market information.
- Present information and trainings to the full FSET team regarding the labor market, job preparation (resume development, interview skills, etc.) and related topics.
- Support the development and coordination of targeted job skill training for FSET customers to meet local labor market needs.
- Provide support to the Quality Assurance team for employer-related data, including data necessary for state Quarterly Reports.
- Provide back-up support for other team members including the program support specialist team and front desk reception.
Education: Required: Bachelor Degree in a field that provides the necessary skills to meet the expectations of the position.
Experience: Not necessary.
Transportation: Required - This position will require travel to and from various sites. Employee must have a valid Wisconsin Driver's License and a vehicle.

- Ability to work independently with a strong sense of focus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, keyboarding and MS Office skills.
- Must have keyboarding skills of 40 WPM minimum.
- Basic everyday living skills, the ability to understand and follow directions (agency manuals, etc.), and reading and writing (for reports) is necessary.

Physical Requirements
- Physical effort required in sitting, walking, standing, bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing, regularly required while performing job functions.

- Regular data entry or keyboarding for documentation and administrative duties.
Working Environment
- Address stressful situations and crises, some of which may be considered mentally demanding.
- Provide services in varying environments, including office and community locations.
- Regular driving to and from offices and community agencies. Some driving may take place during nighttime hours or mild to moderate weather conditions.
